About Us

Paywand Social and Cultural Network (Paywand) is a non-profit organization based in Scarborough, Toronto. It was officially established in 2025 after several years of active community work. Paywand was created by a group of community members who wanted to help newcomers especially those from diverse cultural backgrounds settle and feel at home in Canada.

The organization works to bring people together, provide support, and create opportunities for learning, wellbeing, and cultural connection. Paywand believes in diversity, respect, and inclusion, and it works with government, community groups, and families to make Canadian society more welcoming and supportive for everyone.

To carry out its mission, Paywand has six active committees at the moment:

  • 1. Education and Wellbeing Committee

supports learning, personal growth, and mental wellness programs.

  • 2. Arts and Culture Committee

promotes Afghan and multicultural arts, music, and traditions to build cultural pride and exchange.

  • 3. Public Relations and Communication Committee

manages outreach, community engagement, and communication with members and partners.

  • 4. Financial Committee

oversees fundraising, financial planning, and resources to ensure the organization’s sustainability.

  • 5. Women Empowerment Committee

supports women through programs that build confidence, skills, and leadership in the community.

  • 6. Seniors Committee

focuses on the needs of older adults, offering social support, activities, and connections to keep them active and included.
